Bless the LORD and Forget Not His Benefits
David calls his own soul to remember the LORD’s benefits: forgiveness, healing, redemption, covenant love, and sustaining goodness. These gifts become rich categories for Christian thanksgiving, especially in light of Christ’s saving ministry. Still, the psalm is praise for God’s covenant mercy before it is a list of direct predictions about Jesus.
Psalm 103 praises the LORD as forgiver of iniquity and healer of diseases; Matthew 9 places forgiveness and bodily healing together in Jesus’ authority over the paralytic. The pairing heightens the Gospel’s question of who possesses divine authority to forgive.
Psalm 103 praises the LORD as the one who forgives iniquities and heals diseases; Luke 5 places forgiveness and bodily restoration together in Jesus’ response to the paralytic. That pairing gives the Gospel scene strong divine-authority resonance.
Psalm 103 praises the LORD as the one who forgives iniquities and heals diseases; Mark 2 deliberately places forgiveness and bodily restoration together in Jesus’ authority over the paralytic. The pairing contributes to the scene’s divine-authority resonance without requiring a direct Psalm quotation.
