Joash Repairs the Temple
2 Chronicles 24:1–14 forms the movement “Joash Repairs the Temple.” Joash became king at the age of seven and reigned forty years in Jerusalem. As long as Jehoiada the priest lived, Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Joash’s heart was set on repairing the temple of the Lord, and he instructed the Levites to collect offerings from Judah to fund the work. A chest was placed outside the temple gate, and the people joyfully brought their contributions until the work was abundantly supplied. The temple was restored to its proper condition, and the burnt offerings were continually presented. This restoration highlights the importance of worship and the house of God being central to the life of His people.
