A Stirred-Up People – Willing Hearts and Skillful Hands
Moses extended the call beyond the offering—he invited every skilled worker to come and build what the Lord had commanded. The Tabernacle would not be built by force or assigned duty; it would be shaped by willing hearts and gifted hands. Carpenters, weavers, metalworkers, embroiderers—each person with a God-given ability had a place in this sacred project.
What followed is one of the most moving moments in Israel’s early story: the people responded with overwhelming generosity. Men and women alike brought gold jewelry, linens, skins, oil, spices, and precious stones. Those who spun yarn spun it. Those who wove linen wove it. Those who couldn’t build with their hands gave from their possessions. Even the rulers brought onyx and gems for the ephod and breastpiece.
