Breastpiece, Tribal Stones, and Binding to the Ephod records the carrying out of what was commanded or announced in The Breastpiece, Twelve Stones, Urim and Thummim, showing the earlier word moving into fulfillment within Exodus.

The priestly garments designed in Exodus 28 are actually placed on Aaron during the ordination ceremony in Leviticus 8. The later passage therefore executes the earlier sanctuary instructions and shows that priestly clothing belongs to the formal installation of Aaronic ministry.

Ezra responds to an unresolved priestly genealogy by appealing to the Urim and Thummim, a priestly means of judgment already established in Torah. The postexilic community therefore looks backward to an authorized institution rather than improvising sacred authority.
