Priestly Washing, Clothing, Anointing, and Installation develops the covenant theme established in Aaronic Priests and Garments for Glory and Beauty, carrying the relationship, obligation, or sign forward.

The priestly garments designed in Exodus 28 are actually placed on Aaron during the ordination ceremony in Leviticus 8. The later passage therefore executes the earlier sanctuary instructions and shows that priestly clothing belongs to the formal installation of Aaronic ministry.

Hebrews explains the calling and representative work of a high priest and explicitly says that no one takes this honor to himself, “but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.” Exodus 28 supplies the narrative appointment of Aaron and his sons to priestly service.
