The Lamp Oil – Continual Light Before the Lord
The chapter closes with a command that at first seems almost simple: “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning.” But within this instruction is a profound spiritual truth—God desires a continual flame in His presence.
The golden lampstand, though housed inside the Tabernacle, could not burn on its own. It required pure olive oil, brought by the people and tended by the priests. The light was to be constant—never extinguished. It burned before the Lord from evening to morning, a symbol of God’s abiding presence and Israel’s perpetual worship.
