The Men of Jabesh-gilead
Start here: When the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines had done, all their valiant men traveled through the night. They took down the bodies of Saul and his sons, brought them to Jabesh, and burned them there. They buried their bones under a tamarisk tree and fasted seven days.
Canonical window: The final movement brings the kingdom transition to its crisis. David survives exile and the destruction of Ziklag by seeking the LORD, while Saul reaches the end of legitimate guidance and dies on Gilboa. The book closes at the threshold of David’s reign. The connection cards below show the specific Scripture links and how strongly each one is supported. This overview does not turn every similarity into a prophecy or type.
