David Defeats Goliath
Start here: David approached Goliath with a sling and five smooth stones, declaring that the battle belonged to the Lord. While Goliath boasted of his strength, David proclaimed God’s power, saying that all the earth would know there is a God in Israel. He struck Goliath on the forehead with a stone, killing him, and then cut off his head with the giant’s own sword. Israel pursued the Philistines and plundered their camp, while David was brought before Saul with the head of Goliath in his hand.
Canonical window: David’s anointing begins the rise of the chosen shepherd-king while Saul declines. The Spirit, royal election, representative deliverance, covenant loyalty, jealousy, persecution, and God’s preservation of his anointed servant become major canonical trajectories. The connection cards below show the specific Scripture links and how strongly each one is supported. This overview does not turn every similarity into a prophecy or type.
