Stand Still and See
As Pharaoh’s army drew near, fear gripped the Israelites. They turned on Moses, accusing him of leading them to die in the wilderness. Panic clouded their memory of God's faithfulness, and they doubted His presence.
But Moses declared one of the most powerful lines in Scripture: “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today” (Exodus 14:13). They would not need to fight; they only needed to trust.
God instructed Moses to stretch out his staff over the sea. But before the waters parted, the angel of God and the pillar of cloud moved behind the people, placing a divine barrier between them and their enemies. Darkness fell on the Egyptian side, while light remained with Israel—all night long. God protected before He parted.
