Dan Seeks an Inheritance and Consults Micah’s Priest
The tribe of Dan still lacks secure possession of its inheritance and sends five men to scout new territory. They recognize the Levite at Micah’s shrine and ask him to inquire of God about their journey. The “no king in Israel” refrain returns, linking unresolved land questions with a religious system already shown to be compromised.
The epilogue repeats there was no king in Israel as Micah’s private shrine story gives way to Dan’s tribal idolatry; the refrain links personal religious disorder to national disorder.
