Micah’s Shrine: Religion Made in His Own Eyes
A stolen fortune is returned to Micah’s mother, who dedicates silver to the LORD and then uses it to make an idol. Micah builds a private shrine, makes an ephod and teraphim, and appoints one of his sons as priest. The narrator then supplies the diagnosis: there was no king in Israel, and everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
