The Seventh Month Begins with Trumpets and Offerings
The seventh month begins with a sacred assembly marked by trumpet blowing and a defined set of offerings in addition to the normal daily and monthly sacrifices. Numbers is layering special sacred time on top of the worship rhythms established in Chapter 28.
Leviticus 23 establishes the first day of the seventh month as a holy convocation marked by teruah, a blast or acclamation. Numbers 29 returns to the same calendar date and adds the trumpet/blast and sacrificial requirements, so the two Torah texts should be read together before later Jewish or Christian interpretations are added.
