The Ark Is Carried According to the Command
David has learned from the earlier disaster. He declares that the Levites must carry the ark and openly says the first breach occurred because they had not sought God 'after the due order.' The Levites sanctify themselves and bear the ark on their shoulders with poles 'as Moses commanded.' This passage is an unusually clear example of Scripture interpreting an earlier biblical event: Chronicles explains why the first procession failed and ties the corrected practice back to Torah.
