Uzzah Dies and the Ark Stays with Obed-edom

When the oxen stumble, Uzzah reaches out and touches the ark and dies. David becomes angry and afraid, leaving the ark with Obed-edom for three months, where the LORD blesses the household. Test the tradition: saying Uzzah was punished merely for “trying to help” leaves out Torah boundaries for holy things and Chronicles’ later explanation that the earlier procession had not sought God according to the prescribed order.
