Agabus Foretells Famine and the Church Sends Relief
Acts 11:27–30 centers on agabus foretells famine and the church sends relief. Prophets come from Jerusalem to Antioch, and Agabus predicts a great famine during Claudius’s reign. The disciples respond before the crisis arrives: each according to ability contributes relief for believers in Judea, sending it by Barnabas and Saul to the elders.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. The mission to Gentiles immediately produces material solidarity back toward Judea. Acts therefore joins prophecy, economic care, and church unity; receiving the gospel and sharing resources are not separate stories.
