The promise also continues within Genesis itself. Genesis 35 later renews remarkably similar language to Jacob: El Shaddai, fruitfulness and multiplication, nations, kings, and land. The Abrahamic covenant is therefore not left attached only to Abraham; Genesis deliberately carries it into Israel’s next generations.

The integrated story is: Abram receives promises → Abram becomes Abraham → one man is promised nations and kings → the covenant line continues through Isaac and Jacob → Israel emerges → the New Testament returns to Abraham’s father-of-many-nations promise while explaining faith and the widening family of promise. The phrase “everlasting covenant” should not be flattened into the claim that every later covenant is identical to Genesis 17; later Scripture develops distinct covenant administrations while preserving God’s faithfulness to Abrahamic promise.

Presence / covenant lens: The Abrahamic covenant holds together offspring, nations, kings, land, blessing, and covenant relationship. Paul explicitly centers the “seed” promise in Christ, but that apostolic reading should not be defended with the inaccurate shortcut that Hebrew zera normally means only one individual.
