God Hears Solomon and Reaffirms the Covenant
2 Chronicles 7:11–18 forms the movement “God Hears Solomon and Reaffirms the Covenant.” After Solomon completes the temple and palace, the LORD appears to him by night. God answers the themes of chapter 6: drought, locusts, pestilence, humility, prayer, seeking, turning, forgiveness, and restoration. He also reaffirms the Davidic promise while tying Solomon's royal faithfulness to obedience.
In the book’s larger argument, God answers Solomon with glory, covenant mercy, and a warning: repentance matters, but temple privilege does not make apostasy safe.
