The Spirit and the Bride Say, Come
Revelation 22:14–17 joins restored access to the tree of life with Jesus’ Davidic and morning-star titles and the final invitation to come. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come,” and whoever is thirsty may take the water of life freely. Davidic Messiah, new creation, and free grace meet in Revelation’s closing appeal.
Revelation 22:18–21 closes with a solemn warning not to add to or take away from the words of the prophecy, Christ’s final promise “Surely I come quickly,” John’s answering “Even so, come, Lord Jesus,” and a benediction of grace. Revelation ends not with a speculative timetable but with guarded testimony, expectant prayer, and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Song ends with the woman calling her beloved to hurry; Revelation ends with “the Spirit and the bride say, Come” and “Surely I come quickly.”
Song 7:11–13 invites the beloved to “come” into the countryside; Revelation 22:17 closes with the Spirit and the bride saying “Come,” within Revelation’s wider reuse of Song bridal imagery.
