His Desire Is Toward Me
The woman gives the third and climactic belonging formula: “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.” She then takes initiative, inviting him into fields and vineyards where vines, pomegranates, mandrakes, and stored fruits await them.
A major “aha” hides in the word “desire.” The Hebrew noun is rare and also appears in Genesis 3:16 and 4:7. Song 7:10 places that same word in a joyful mutual-love context. Many readers therefore see a meaningful reversal or healing resonance with Genesis 3, though whether the Song intentionally quotes Genesis cannot be proven.
