Harvest can symbolize judgment or gathering across Scripture. Matthew's immediate focus is workers for the Lord's harvest; no single prophetic text should be declared the exclusive source.

Joel deliberately reverses Isaiah’s peace oracle: instead of swords becoming plowshares and spears pruninghooks, the nations are told to beat plowshares into swords and pruninghooks into spears as they assemble for judgment.

Joel reverses the same plowshare/pruninghook peace saying preserved in Micah: tools of cultivation are turned back into weapons for the nations’ judgment muster.

Amos opens with the LORD roaring from Zion and giving his voice from Jerusalem; Joel 3:16 uses the same distinctive Zion-and-Jerusalem roar formula in the judgment of the nations.

Joel’s ripe harvest, sickle, and overflowing winepress of wickedness provide a major prophetic backdrop for Revelation 14’s Son-of-Man harvest and winepress of divine wrath.
