Remember Your Endurance and Live by Faith
The writer asks the community to remember earlier days when, after being enlightened, they endured public reproach, suffering, solidarity with prisoners, and loss of property because they knew they possessed a better and lasting inheritance. They must not throw away that confidence. The exhortation then combines prophetic language—especially Habakkuk 2:3–4—with expectation of the coming one: the righteous lives by faith, and God has no pleasure in shrinking back. Hebrews finishes with confidence that its hearers belong not to destruction but to faith that preserves life.
