Mercy to the Heavens, Refuge under Wings, and the Fountain of Life
Against human corruption, God’s covenant mercy reaches to the heavens and his righteousness stands like mountains. Humans and animals depend on his preservation; people take refuge under his wings, feast from his abundance, drink from his river of delights, and find the fountain of life in him.
John’s Gospel later speaks of living water, life, and light in relation to Jesus, making this a rich canonical image family. Yet John does not quote Psalm 36:8–9 as a formal fulfillment text. The connection is strong theological development, not direct prediction.
