The Word, Reproof, and the Fountain of Life
Response to a word or command reveals whether wisdom is being received. Wise instruction becomes a fountain of life that turns people from death’s snares, and correction, faithful service, and rightly ordered desire all participate in the same life-giving pattern.
Proverbs calls wise teaching a fountain of life that turns people away from death, while Psalm 36 says the fountain of life is with the LORD. The shared image roots life-giving wisdom in God himself rather than treating instruction as an independent source of life.
