Walk Wisely: Spirit-Filled Worship and Thanksgiving
Paul calls for careful, wise walking because the days are evil: redeem the time, understand the Lord’s will, and do not become drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit. Spirit-filled life overflows in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, heartfelt praise, thanksgiving to the Father in Jesus’ name, and submission to one another in the fear of Christ.
Where this fits in the story: biblical wisdom repeatedly contrasts foolish intoxication with disciplined understanding, while Israel’s psalms supply the vocabulary of sung praise. The Spirit does not produce private ecstasy detached from community; the grammar moves into communal worship, gratitude, and ordered relationships.
