The Bold Righteous and Those Who Keep the Law
The wicked flee without pursuit, while the righteous can possess lion-like boldness. Political disorder, oppression, lawlessness, justice, economic conduct, and family reputation are tied together by the question of whether God’s instruction is kept or abandoned.
Leviticus 26 warns that covenant rebellion can produce such terror that Israel flees even when no one pursues. Proverbs 28:1 reuses the same striking image—“the wicked flee when no man pursueth”—and contrasts it with the righteous being bold as a lion, turning covenant-curse language into a wisdom portrait of guilty fear.
