Honey, Wisdom, Falling Seven Times, and Fear of the LORD
Honey provides an image for wisdom: genuinely sweet and connected with future hope. The righteous may fall repeatedly yet rise again, so enemies are not to be gloated over when they stumble; the section closes with fear of the LORD and the king and a warning against unstable rebellion.
Proverbs says a righteous person may fall repeatedly and rise again; Psalm 37 says that though the righteous fall, they are not utterly cast down because the LORD upholds them. Both portray righteousness as divinely sustained perseverance rather than flawless never-stumbling.
Proverbs joins fear of the LORD with proper regard for the king; Peter reshapes the same pairing as “Fear God. Honour the king,” reserving fear for God while commanding due honor to the ruler.
