Do Not Rob the Poor; Be Skilled in Thy Work
The Words of the Wise begin with social justice: the poor must not be robbed because the LORD himself pleads their cause. The hearer is also warned about angry companions, reckless debt, stolen boundary markers, and is encouraged to cultivate skill that can bring a worker before kings.
Proverbs repeats the warning not to move the ancient landmark set by the fathers, directly developing Deuteronomy’s protection of inherited land and family property boundaries. The concern is quiet theft by boundary manipulation.
