Paul and Barnabas Separate; Mission Continues
Acts 15:36–41 centers on paul and barnabas separate; mission continues. Paul proposes revisiting the churches, but he and Barnabas sharply disagree over taking John Mark, who had withdrawn earlier. They separate: Barnabas takes Mark to Cyprus; Paul chooses Silas and travels through Syria and Cilicia strengthening churches.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. Acts does not hide serious conflict among mature missionaries. Yet the mission continues in two directions, and later NT references show Mark eventually restored to useful ministry. Failure, disagreement, and reconciliation can coexist inside God’s advancing work.
