The Risen Messiah Opens the Scriptures and Sends Witnesses to All Nations
Jesus appears among the gathered disciples, invites them to see and touch, eats before them, and then opens their understanding of the Law of Moses, Prophets, and Psalms. He summarizes the scriptural message: the Messiah suffers, rises the third day, and repentance and remission of sins are proclaimed in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem.
Where this fits in the story: Luke himself gives the controlling canonical interpretation of the Gospel. Suffering, resurrection, forgiveness, nations, Jerusalem, Scripture, and witness belong together.
The disciples are appointed witnesses but told to wait for “power from on high,” forming the direct bridge into Acts and Pentecost.
