The Eternal God and Frail Humanity
Psalm 90 is a prayer of Moses that begins with God as the dwelling place of His people before the mountains were born. Human beings return to dust and their generations pass quickly before the eternal God. Second Peter 3:8 strongly echoes the psalm’s contrast between divine and human measurements of time, but the psalm itself is not a direct prediction of Christ. In the wider canon, its contrast between God’s eternity and human frailty prepares readers to recognize the significance of the eternal Word entering mortal life.
