Hebrews 11:22 explicitly interprets Joseph’s deathbed reference to Israel’s future departure and his command concerning his bones as faith, turning Genesis’s unusual burial request into a witness to confidence in God’s promised exodus.

Genesis ends with Joseph making Israel swear to carry up his bones; Exodus 13:19 explicitly recalls that oath and records Moses taking the bones out of Egypt. The later scene turns Joseph’s deathbed faith into visible movement and begins fulfilling the hope with which Genesis closes.

Joshua 24:32 records Joseph’s bones, carried up from Egypt, finally buried at Shechem. The verse completes the hope voiced at the end of Genesis and the journey begun in Exodus, turning Joseph’s deathbed faith into visible historical fulfillment.

Exodus 1:6 explicitly resumes Genesis by recording Joseph’s death and the passing of his generation. The repeated notice closes the patriarchal era before the narrative turns to Israel’s multiplication and oppression in Egypt.

Joseph dies expecting God to “surely visit” Israel and bring them out of Egypt. At the burning-bush commission, God tells Moses to announce, “I have surely visited you,” using the same distinctive visitation language as deliverance begins.

Genesis ends with Joseph’s sworn request that his bones be carried up when God visits Israel; Joshua 24 records their burial at Shechem after the exodus and settlement. The later burial closes a promise loop and visibly fulfills Joseph’s land-directed hope.
