The Lips That Lead toward Death
The seductive woman’s speech begins sweet and smooth but ends bitter and sharp. Proverbs asks the reader to look beyond the first sensation to the destination of the path: what sounds inviting can lead steadily toward death while refusing to ponder the path of life.
Proverbs shows seductive desire beginning sweetly but moving toward death; James describes desire conceiving sin and sin bringing forth death. Both trace temptation as a process whose attractive beginning hides a destructive end.
