Daughter Zion Rejoices: The LORD Comes to Dwell and the Nations Join

Daughter Zion is told to sing because the LORD is coming to dwell in her midst. Then the promise widens dramatically: ‘many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people.’ Restoration is not a private national recovery. God’s return to Zion becomes a magnet drawing nations into covenant belonging. The section closes with the whole earth told to be silent before the LORD because he has roused himself from his holy habitation.

Where Scripture takes it next: the New Testament’s incarnation and people-of-God theology deepen this divine-dwelling-and-nations trajectory, and Revelation ends with God dwelling among humanity. This is a strong canonical trajectory toward Christ, not a verse the NT formally quotes as fulfilled.
