Raised with Christ: Seek the Things Above
The argument turns from what believers have died to toward the life into which they have been raised. Because they are risen with Christ, they are to seek and set their minds on the things above, where Christ sits at God’s right hand. Their old life has died; their true life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is their life, appears, they will appear with him in glory.
Where this fits in the story: the right-hand language belongs to the royal trajectory of Psalm 110 and its New Testament use in describing the exalted Messiah. Colossians joins that enthronement to union with Christ: his resurrection and glory determine the identity and future of his people.
