Remember Jesus Christ: David’s Seed, Risen and Faithful
“Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.” In one sentence the letter joins messianic promise and resurrection. Jesus is David’s royal descendant and the risen Lord. Paul may be bound “as an evil doer,” but “the word of God is not bound.”
Where this fits in the story: God’s covenant with David creates the expectation of an enduring royal line, while the resurrection announces that death cannot terminate the Messiah’s reign. The faithful saying that follows moves through death/life, endurance/reigning, denial, and Christ’s unwavering faithfulness. Its balanced form may preserve an early confessional or hymn-like saying, though the text does not tell us its prior history.
