Nothing Hidden — Allies, Wisdom, and Warriors Fail

Ordinary thieves stop when they have enough, and grape gatherers leave something behind. Edom’s coming search is pictured as more complete: hidden treasure is exposed, trusted allies betray, celebrated wisdom disappears, and Teman’s warriors are terrified. Every layer of security fails—wealth, diplomacy, intellect, and military strength.

Where this fits in the story: Edom was known as a real neighboring kingdom with alliances, trade, fortified settlements, and a reputation for wisdom in later biblical memory. Obadiah turns those strengths into a reversal: what seemed to guarantee survival becomes powerless before judgment.
