Devote Yourselves to Good Works, Not Fruitless Strife
The salvation summary is “a faithful saying,” and Titus must insist on it so believers will be careful to maintain good works. That profitable focus is contrasted with foolish questions, genealogies, quarrels, and fights about the law. A persistently divisive person is to receive warning and then be refused.
Where this fits in the story: 1 Timothy 1 warns against myths and endless genealogies that generate speculation instead of faithful stewardship; 2 Timothy 2 warns against foolish disputes while calling the Lord’s servant to gentle correction. Titus belongs to the same pastoral pattern: truth should produce useful, holy life rather than endless religious combat.
