No One Can Redeem a Brother from Death
The wealthy may trust riches, but no human being can pay God an adequate ransom for another person’s life. The price is beyond human resources, and both wise and foolish die. Houses, lands, and names cannot cancel mortality.
Christian readers naturally hear this beside New Testament ransom and redemption language, where redemption is accomplished not by silver or gold but through Christ. That is a strong canonical contrast, not a direct quotation of Psalm 49 in the New Testament. A careful reading should let the psalm establish the impossible human price before showing the larger biblical answer.
