The LORD Has Heard My Weeping
Without any narrated change in circumstances, the psalm’s voice changes. The worshiper now declares that the LORD has heard his weeping, supplication, and prayer. Confidence in God’s hearing becomes the reason enemies will not have the final word.
Jesus uses language very close to Psalm 6:8—“depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity”—in Matthew 7:23. That resemblance deserves notice, though the Gospel does not introduce it as a formal quotation. It places the psalm’s dismissal of evildoers inside a broader biblical vocabulary that Jesus can use in an eschatological warning. The core movement remains lament to assurance: prayer has become confidence before the external conflict has visibly ended.
