Torah and prophets warn that signs or prophetic claims do not automatically validate a messenger; allegiance, truth, and fruit matter. This is important for Matthew 7:21-23, where charismatic deeds in Jesus' name do not substitute for doing the Father's will. Deuteronomy commands Israel to test religious claims rather than follow a false prophet away from God; 1 John commands believers to test the spirits because many false prophets have gone out.

The key reading question is therefore not simply, “What rule or event appears here?” but, “What does this movement teach Israel about the LORD, covenant loyalty, life in the land, and the consequences of trusting or resisting His word?”
