Psalms 104:10–30
The Creator sets earth’s bounds, restrains the waters, sends springs, waters creatures, grows vegetation, and provides habitats. The poetry celebrates ordered dependence on God rather than scientific sequencing. Christian creation theology can confess all things made and sustained through Christ, but the details of this section are not direct predictive Christology.
Moon, sun, darkness, animals, sea life, and human work all operate within God’s ordering care. Creatures depend on Him for food and breath; when He sends His spirit or breath, life is renewed. Later Christian theology of the Spirit can resonate with this language, but the Hebrew term’s immediate function in the poem is God’s life-giving breath/spirit within creation.
Matthew’s teaching about birds, lilies, food, and the Father’s care belongs to a broad scriptural creation-and-providence tradition in which creatures depend continually on God’s provision. Psalm 104 is a major background text for that theology of daily creaturely dependence.
