1 Kings 10:23–25
In 1 Kings 10:14–25, the narrative focuses on solomon’s wealth and splendor. This belongs to the high point and unraveling of Solomon’s reign. Wealth, international fame, worship, royal power, and covenant warning stand side by side until the king’s divided heart exposes why wisdom and prosperity cannot substitute for sustained loyalty to the LORD.
Jesus explicitly invokes Solomon’s famous glory when teaching against anxiety, saying that even Solomon in all his splendor was not clothed like the lilies God dresses. The reference depends on Kings’ portrait of Solomon’s extraordinary magnificence while subordinating royal glory to the Father’s care in creation.
First Kings presents Solomon’s wealth, fame, building projects, court splendor, and wisdom at extraordinary scale; Ecclesiastes adopts a similarly maximal royal experiment in pleasure, achievement, wealth, and wisdom.
