Bread from Heaven – God Responds to Grumbling with Grace
After witnessing God’s miraculous deliverance and provision time and again, the Israelites once again found themselves questioning His care. As they traveled into the Wilderness of Sin, just a month after crossing the Red Sea, hunger set in—and so did their doubts. They grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying they wished they had died in Egypt where at least there was food.
But God, in His mercy, did not rebuke them with wrath. Instead, He responded with provision. He told Moses that He would “rain down bread from heaven” for His people. This was not just about filling their stomachs—it was a test of trust, obedience, and dependence. Each day they were to collect only what they needed for that day. On the sixth day, they were to gather twice as much, for the seventh day would be a Sabbath—a day of rest.
