Matthew explicitly locates Jesus’ approaching death and final meal in Passover time, placing the Passion inside Israel’s central Exodus festival of deliverance. The timing creates a deliberate redemption horizon even before the meal’s covenant-blood language is spoken.

Matthew’s “the poor ye have always with you” directly recalls Deuteronomy 15:11, but the Torah context makes the sentence a reason for openhanded care, not permission for indifference.

FORESHADOWING / MIRRORING JESUS: Delilah is promised silver by hostile rulers to make Samson vulnerable for capture; Judas bargains for silver to deliver Jesus. Intimate access, silver payment, and handing the deliverer to hostile authorities create a distinctive narrative mirror.

The amount forms part of the later explicit fulfillment complex in Matthew 27. Matthew’s thirty-silver betrayal amount forms part of the Zechariah 11 fulfillment complex made explicit in Matthew 27.
