The God Who Is Able to Keep You
Jude ends where he began: with God’s keeping power. After telling believers to keep themselves in God’s love, he praises the God who is able to keep them from falling and to present them faultless before his glory with exceeding joy. The letter’s fierce warnings therefore do not end in panic. They end in worship and confidence in God.
Where this fits in the Bible: Romans 16:25–27 and Ephesians 3:20–21 also close with praise to the God who is “able.” Colossians 1:22 speaks of believers being presented holy and without blame. Revelation later develops the same hope with pictures of undefiled garments, blameless people before God, and heavenly worship giving glory and power to God and the Lamb.
