The Cup, the Prayer, the Betrayal, and the Healed Ear
On the Mount of Olives Jesus urges prayer against temptation, withdraws, and submits his will to the Father: “not my will, but thine, be done.” He is betrayed with a kiss; a disciple strikes the high priest’s servant; Jesus heals the wounded ear and submits to arrest, calling it “your hour, and the power of darkness.”
Where this fits in the story: the obedient Son faces the final testing without taking the violent shortcut. Prayer, surrender, enemy-love, healing, and spiritual conflict converge.
