Father, Kingdom, Daily Bread, Forgiveness, and the Gift of the Holy Spirit
Jesus teaches his disciples to pray for the Father’s name to be hallowed, the kingdom to come, daily bread, forgiveness, and protection from temptation. A story about persistence and a father-child comparison then culminate in the Father’s gift of the Holy Spirit.
Where this fits in the story: prayer in Luke is deeply kingdom-shaped and relational. Bread recalls dependence; forgiveness creates forgiven forgivers; testing recalls wilderness vulnerability; the Spirit supplies God’s empowering presence.
