The Kingdom Is Already in Their Midst
Pharisees ask when the kingdom of God will come. Jesus rejects spectacle-driven observation and says the kingdom is “within you” or “in your midst,” a phrase whose precise nuance is debated.
Where this fits in the story: throughout Luke, the kingdom is already announced and enacted in Jesus’ presence and works, yet its final public consummation remains future.
Translation boundary: because Jesus is addressing Pharisees and because Luke stresses the kingdom present in Jesus’ ministry, “in your midst” is often contextually stronger than treating the saying as a purely inward mystical location.
