Who Is This? Jesus Commands Wind and Water
A sudden storm threatens the boat while Jesus sleeps. The disciples wake him; he rebukes wind and waves, and calm follows. Their final question—“What manner of man is this!”—is the real center of the scene.
Where this fits in the story: Israel’s Scriptures repeatedly portray the LORD as ruler over chaotic waters and storms. Luke does not insert an explicit quotation, so the connection should be classified as canonical resonance rather than a direct citation.
The miracle is therefore Christological as well as pastoral: fear is confronted by faith, but the event also presses the reader to identify the one whose word commands the sea.
