From an Empty Net to Catching People Alive
After teaching from Simon’s boat, Jesus directs a catch so overwhelming that experienced fishermen cannot manage it alone. Simon responds not with swagger but with a confession of unworthiness. Jesus answers fear with vocation: from now on Simon will catch people alive.
Where this fits in the story: abundant provision, divine calling, and human inadequacy repeatedly meet in Scripture. Luke turns the fishing miracle into a call narrative: encounter with holy power exposes the person, grace answers fear, and vocation follows.
